2021 Greater Erie Awards Keynote: Using Preservation to Unlock a Brighter, More Equitable, More Sustainable Future

October 21, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm

The 2021 Greater Erie Awards Keynote Speaker was presented via Zoom Webinar Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 6:00 pm. Watch the recording!

The Greater Erie Awards are presented annually by the board of Preservation Erie to individuals, businesses or organizations that are exceptional stewards of the physical and cultural landscape that is Greater Erie. The award reception typically features a keynote address given by an acclaimed lecturer in the fields of historic preservation and urban planning, but in lieu of an in-person event, Preservation Erie hosted the keynote presentation by Jessie Fisher, Executive Director of Preservation Buffalo Niagara, virtually. Award recipients will be announced during the three to four weeks following the event using Preservation Erie’s social media accounts.

Ms. Fisher is an Urban Planner with a Master’s degree from the University of Washington in Seattle. She has worked as an historic preservation and neighborhood planning consultant, owned and developed at-risk and abandoned buildings, and served as the Director of Planning at Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper. Ms. Fisher’s presentation focuses on her experiences strengthening communities in western New York and how promoting our region’s heritage can unlock a brighter, more equitable, more sustainable future.
