Historic Building Research

Owners often find it fascinating to learn more about their homes, businesses, or community landmarks, and this information is designed to assist them in their research.

The eriebuildings.info website, a service of Preservation Erie, is a resource inventory of more than 30,000 historic buildings in Erie County, Pennsylvania.

The Erie County Public Library (Raymond Blasco Memorial Library, Erie) maintains the Heritage Room, a room dedicated to local and family history resources.

The Erie County Historical Society’s Library & Archives public research room and administrative offices are located in the carriage house of the Watson-Curtze Mansion at 356 W. 6th Street. Researchers and students of all ages will find community history and genealogy information from a treasure of published and primary sources.

Many of the historical societies and museums that serve cities, boroughs, and townships throughout Erie County also maintain special research collections. A complete listing of historical organizations in the county can be found at www.erieyesterday.org
