SUMMARY:Ironworks Square Tour
DESCRIPTION:Ironworks Square Tour – Adaptive Reuse in Action \nSaturday\, May 23\, 2026 10 am – 12 pm \nThe tour will be guided by Tina Mengine\, President & CEO of the Erie County Redevelopment Authority and David Brennan\, Partner with Bostwick Design Partnership. \nIronworks Square in Erie is an adaptive reuse project that is transforming the former Erie Malleable Iron Company manufacturing complex into a vibrant mixed-use destination. Once a cornerstone of Erie’s industrial economy—producing iron castings that supported railroads\, construction\, and national growth—the historic foundry buildings are being rehabilitated to preserve their brick exterior walls\, steel framing\, and industrial character. Ironworks Square blends office\, light industry\, restaurant\, and community spaces\, demonstrating how preservation and reinvestment can honor the city’s manufacturing legacy while supporting new economic life. The project stands as a powerful example of how Erie’s industrial past continues to shape its future. \nThe tour is limited to (50) max number of registrants. Register by emailing info@preservationerie.org \nAll registrants are required to sign a waiver. No open toe shoes permitted. Hardhats will be provided. \nParking Directions: Travel on West 12th Street and turn south on Poplar Street. Turn into site through construction fence gate and park on central concrete area which will be designated. Be careful to keep your car away from any construction materials or demolition debris.
