Cemetery Preservation Workshop

April 7, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Preservation Erie is excited to be hosting a full-day cemetery preservation workshop with Jason Church, Chief of Technical Services at the National Center for Preservation Technology and Training (under the National Park Service). The day includes a discussion of why cemetery preservation matters, an overview of cemetery iconography and how to identify materials, and instructions on how to properly clean and preserve gravestones. Even though questions are encouraged throughout the day, time is set aside at the end of the workshop to address specific questions from attendees.

The workshop is open to anyone with an interest in caring for historic cemeteries and gravestones.

Lunch is “on your own” from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm. There are many restaurants within a 5-15 minute drive from the workshop site.

Event is free and open to the public. Registration is encouraged, but not required, by emailing [email protected]
