Historic Resource Inventory Presentation to Erie County Planning Commission

May 14, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Preservation Erie recently completed the county-wide inventory of historic resources. Over a one and a half year period, Wise Preservation Planning identified, documented and mapped more than 32,000 historic resources and historic districts that are individually listed on, determined to be eligible for, or appear to be eligible for, the National Register of Historic Places.

The results of the inventory and suggestions for how it may be use for historic resource planning and management will be presented to the Erie County Planning Commission at their monthly meeting, which is open to the public. (The Erie County Planning Commission is a 46-member advisory board, comprised of representatives from every municipality within Erie County, and from the County of Erie.)

The inventory was completed in accordance with the Pennsylvania Historic Preservation Plan (PHPP) and the Bureau for Historic Preservation Guidelines for Comprehensive Surveys. The results of the 2014 historic resource inventory have been added to the State’s Cultural Resources Geographic Information System, a map-based inventory of the historic and archaeological sites and surveys stored by the Bureau for Historic Preservation (BHP). The long-term goal of the project is to use the inventory data to produce a comprehensive historic preservation plan for Erie County that can assist in the protection and adaptive reuse of the rich assets of the built landscape of Greater Erie.
